In 2011, Michele Graham started a line of frozen, all-natural food for dogs as a way to feed her picky Yorkshire Terrier, Gigi. She named the line Table Food™, and it was carried by Whole Foods Market stores throughout the Southeast.
In 2015, while working at an animal shelter to pursue her initial dream of becoming a veterinarian, she began bottle feeding a pair of neonatal kittens. She then realized that a surrogate solution could be created to assist with the around-the-clock feedings required during fostering. The idea was named Surro-Kitty®.
The prototype of the Surro-Kitty® was created in 2016 and introduced to the market shortly after. Additional nurser models were later added, and customers globally have used the Surro-Kitty® as part of their neonatal care routines.
Today, Michele continues to grow Wholeful Pet as a creator of innovative and practical animal care solutions. She is also a law student at the Appalachian School of Law, a blogger, and founder of an emerging legal technology company.

As a law student now living in Southwest Virginia, Michele has become increasingly focused on the economic future of the Appalachian region and the role entrepreneurship can play in creating long-term opportunity.
